Introducing the beautiful soul, Raury Allan Poe aka Raury. I am a little bias with this spotlight, he is from my favorite place on earth, East Atlanta (the mecca of artsy-fartsy afro-hippies)! This 18 year old wildflower is putting the beauty back into music. His debut album came out last summer entitled Indigo Child and he has hit the ground running. Ironically, Raury himself is an indigo child, belief of children who possess special abilities and talents. Raury’s ability is conscious rapping. He is the self proclaimed oracle of music with deliberate insightful lyrics, it’s hard to argue with him. His sound is a mash up of hip hop and alternative indie rock inspired by Michael Jackson, Andre 3000, Coldplay, Bon Iver, and Kid CuDi. How did Raury end his summer?
